Jonathon Halbesleben

Jonathon Halbesleben is the seventh dean of the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is also the Bodenstedt Chair for the Dean of Business and the Tom C. Frost Distinguished University Chair for Business Excellence.


Since joining UT San Antonio in 2022, he has led the college in three priority areas: enhancing student success programs, increasing research productivity and building relationships with the business community.


In addition to his administrative duties, Halbesleben serves as professor of management. He has written or edited 17 books and published over 95 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics such as employee well-being, work-family issues and relationships in and out of the workplace. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Dr. Arka Roy

Arka Roy is an Associate Professor in the Operations & Analytics department housed in the Alvarez College of Business at UT San Antonio. His research focuses on the use of optimization under uncertainty and machine learning to improve end-user outcomes in healthcare and in sustainable services. In healthcare, he closely collaborates with clinicians to develop robust models for radiotherapy and perioperative management, data-driven tools for treatment evaluation and quality control, as well as scheduling models for diagnostics and operation

Dr. Stephen Schwab

Stephen is an assistant professor of management in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is an organizational economist. His current research centers around workforce management and organizational performance with a specific focus on the role interpersonal relationships play in maximizing performance. 


He is also a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 21 years of professional and leadership experience. Notably, he served as the chief financial officer of Brooke Army Medical Center, the Department of Defense’s largest hospital and a level one trauma center. Additionally, he held the position of chief financial officer for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the Department of Defense’s largest biomedical research laboratory. He is passionate about using this experience to inspire and educate the next generation of professionals.
